Research carried out by staff
dr hab. Marta Borowiec, prof. UWr.
My research focuses on issues related to behavioural and evolutionary ecology of birds with particular reference to the reproductive strategies and sexual selection in passerine birds. I am interested in the animal vocal communication, the organization and variability of bird singing, the impact of climate change on animals and nature conservation.
Current projects:
- Breeding behaviour of the painted redstart (Myioborus pictus) in Arizona (USA).
- Determinants of extra-pair paternity in the Reed Warbler Acrocephalus scirpaceus (studies in Milicz Ponds).
- Song dialects and diverse repertoire in the Grey Gerygone (Gerygone igata) in New Zealand.
- Competition and habitat selectivity in the Slate-throated Whitestart (Myioborus miniatus) and the Spectacled Whitestart (M. melanocephalus) in Ecuador.
